2023 Event Schedule

This is your personal invitation to experience vintage motorcars on an authentic, historical boulevard, in the Victorian Village, a preservationist’s dream. This is a true Concours, not just a show and shine, and we have planned an enchanting weekend just for you!

Thursday, September 7

Our concours weekend starts in San Rafael, where we’ll gather in mid-morning to head west to highway 1. Motoring north on 1, we’ll pause for a time at Ft. Ross, then continue our journey north to Mendocino, where you’ll be on your own for lunch. We’ll continue north on highway 1, until it ends at US101. A short drive north will take us to Benbow Inn, our layover for the night. Individual reservations must be made for accommodations and dinner at Benbow.

Friday, September 8

Following breakfast at Benbow, we’ll head north on 101 through Avenue of the Giants, a 31-mile trek in and out of redwood forests on the banks of the Eel River, stopping at points of interest along the way. Next, we’ll drive through the verdant Eel River Valley where we’ll meet some dairy cows up close and personal! Our day will conclude with a beer/wine and hors d’oeuvres reception at Ferndale’s Barndominium bed and breakfast.

Saturday, September 9

We’ll depart Ferndale in mid-morning to the Harper family auto collection in Eureka, where we’ll behold more than 60 collector vehicles, heavily laced with brass era examples. Our next stop will be Cruisin’ Eureka car show, consuming four-blocks of Old Town and featuring mostly hot rods. During our time at the show, make certain to visit Carl’s Car World, an automotive boutique you won’t want to miss! Lunch will follow at the Ingomar Club/Carson Mansion, considered the finest example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture in the nation. Docent tours will be available. After lunch, we’ll head across Humboldt Bay to the Timber Heritage Association’s railroad roundhouse for a trip in a speeder car on the Samoa Peninsula. Dinner will follow at Ferndale’s VI Restaurant, located in the Concours’ host hotel, the Victorian Inn.

Sunday, September 10

Concours day! The field, Ferndale’s National Historic Landmark Commercial District will open for placement of entrants at 7am. Field placement ends at 10am, when judging begins; judging ends at noon. Trophy presentation takes place after 2pm and will conclude by 4pm, when Best-of-Show is awarded. An Italian dinner will follow at Ferndale Pizza Company.

Monday, September 11

Informal “hate to see you go” breakfast at the VI Restaurant.

Note: Any of the above is subject to change at any time.
